Abstract:
Epoxy-terminated polydimethylsiloxane was synthesized by using hydroxyl-terminated polydimethylsiloxane and epichlorohydrin as raw materials. Several factors affecting the reaction were discussed, and the structure of the synthesized product was characterized by FT-IR.Key words:

Abstract:
with octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane as monomer, tetramethyltetravinylcyclotetrasiloxane as modified monomer, hydroxyl silicone oil as capping agent and relative molecular mass regulator, tetramethylammonium hydroxide as catalyst, when the mass fraction of hydroxyl silicone oil is less than 0.13% and the mass fraction of catalyst is 0.004% ~ 0.007%, hydroxyl-terminated polydimethylsiloxane with a molecular weight of more than 45 × 104 and a yield of more than 90% is prepared by copolymerization. The results showed that with the increase of the mass fraction of hydroxyl silicone oil, the relative molecular mass and yield of the sample showed a downward trend, the relative molecular mass of the sample decreased and the yield gradually increased and tended to be stable.

Cyclodimethylsiloxane is an organosilicon compound with a polymer structure containing a silicon oxide matrix and methyl groups connected on both sides. It is a colorless to yellow liquid with low viscosity and good chemical stability.
Regarding the properties of cyclodimethylsiloxane, it has excellent thermal insulation performance, electrical insulation performance, and corrosion resistance. It also has certain anti mold and anti pollution properties. This makes polydimethylsiloxane widely applicable in various fields.
The main uses of cyclodimethylsiloxane include the following aspects:
1. Industrial use: as a lubricant and sealant, used to reduce friction and wear.
2. As a foaming agent, emulsifier, etc., it has the effect of softening and moisturizing the skin.
3. Electronics industry: used for insulation coatings, electronic packaging materials, and thermal conductive media.
The preparation method of cyclodimethylsiloxane is generally obtained by polymerizing dimethylsilanediol with a silane crosslinking agent under the action of a catalyst.
Attention should be paid to safety issues when using cyclodimethylsiloxane. It is a flammable liquid and should be avoided from contact with fire sources or use under high temperature conditions.
